Day Tour to Kondoa Irangi Rock Paintings

1 Day

Overview

Embark on a soul-stirring day tour to the Kondoa Irangi Rock Paintings, one of Tanzania’s most extraordinary yet lesser-known cultural treasures. Located in Kolo village between Singida and the Irangi Hills, these prehistoric rock shelters set into the dramatic cliffs of the Great Rift Valley are adorned with ancient pictographs that date back over 2,000 years.

Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2006, the Kondoa Rock Art sites span more than 450 rock shelters and vividly depict the cultural evolution of hunter-gatherers to agro-pastoralist societies. The images include humans, animals, rituals, and mysterious symbolic forms all painted using natural pigments that have stood the test of time.

This full-day cultural experience by Kilimanjaro Vista Safaris invites art lovers, cultural travelers, historians, and adventure seekers to walk in the footsteps of Tanzania’s earliest storytellers.
